Installing the SonicPlay Mobile App

(APK Sideload Guide)

Critical Security Alert

Installing APKs requires extreme caution. Only proceed if the SonicPlay.apk file was downloaded directly from our official, trusted source. For maximum security, we recommend you disable the "Allow from this source" permission immediately after installation.

Android's security prevents installing apps downloaded outside the Google Play Store (known as sideloading). You must temporarily allow the app used for downloading to install the SonicPlay APK.

  • Go to your Android's Settings app.
  • Navigate to Apps or Apps & notifications.
  • Locate Special app access (or check 'Advanced' options).
  • Select Install unknown apps.
  • Find and select the app used for the download (e.g., Google Chrome).
  • Toggle the switch to Allow from this source. Accept any final security warning.

Now that permissions are set, locate the installation package. The file is usually placed in the primary storage's Download folder.

  • Open your device's File Manager app.
  • Navigate to the Download folder within your internal storage.
  • Locate the file named SonicPlay.apk. Tap the file to start the installer.
  • If the installer fails, double-check permissions from Step 1.

Confirm the installation details when prompted. Once complete, you are ready to start the server on your PC and move to the streaming connection.

  • In the pop-up, review and tap INSTALL.
  • Wait for the 'App installed' message.
  • Tap OPEN to launch the SonicPlay mobile app immediately.
  • PRO TIP: Re-visit Step 1 settings and disable the 'Allow from this source' permission for best security.

Installation Complete! Proceed to the Next Phase.
